I watched a very interesting video talking about Kahn Academy with its founder, Salman Kahn. Mr. Kahn is a Bengali-American who considers himself an educator, has three Bachelor’s degrees (math, electrical engineering and computer sciences) from MIT and an MBA from Harvard. Kahn Academy is a non-profit which was started in 2006, after family members with homework. After a while, he decided to put his tutoring examples for his family online and Kahn Academy grew from there. There are a broad range of topics covered and lessons/examples are paired with YouTube videos. Several schools around the world are utilizing Kahn Academy’s tutoring program, in-classroom.
During this video interview with Mr. Kahn, interviewers from “The Stream” show on AlJazeeraEnglish discuss Mr Kahn’s approach to learning, as well as his view on remote education, the integration of technology with education, as well as an interesting discussion on how children are tested and graded, including “lessons learned” via Kahn Academy.
